Following up on the strict WBF
anti-doping policy recently
announced via this website,
Howard Goldberg, President of
the World Boxing Federation
(WBF) today met with the General
Manager of the South African
Institute for Drug-Free Sport,
Fahmy Galant.
Discussing testing procedures as
well as the financing – an
important topic in Africa - of
thorough testing of WBF title
fights at the meeting in Cape
Town, Goldberg came out very
satisfied.
"It
was very important to meet with
Mr. Galant and to synchronize
efforts in our common battle for
a clean boxing. What I discussed
today with Mr. Galant will set
the standard for the WBF in
South Africa and other countries
on this continent,” said the
head of the WBF.
Part of the new WBF policy is
complete transparency in all
anti-doping matters by
publishing all details of
violations of the WBF Medical
Guidelines
(HERE!),
as well as a general 2-year
suspension of all offenders
found guilty.
