Former World Boxing Federation
(WBF) All Africa Heavyweight
Champion Elvis Moyo will try to
reclaim his old title on Friday
August 25, when he takes on
Kenya´s Bernard Adie at Rainbow
Towers Conference Centre in
Harare, the capital of his
home-country Zimbabwe.
Moyo, who has a mediocre but
very misleading 5-5-2 (2)
record, losing to good opponents
such as former WBF World
Champions Ilunga Makabu (twice)
and Danie Venter, won the WBF
All Africa title in November of
2013 by defeating former South
African Champion Osborne
Machimana.
He then disappeared from boxing
as he turned his attention to
MMA, before returning to the
ring this past July with a
second round knockout of
Nigerian Akeem Tijani. Now “The
Bulawayo Bomber” is ready to get
back into the thick of things,
but Adie will not be a
push-over.
Nicknamed “The Viper of East
Africa”, former African Boxing
Union title-challenger Bernard
Adie entered the paid ranks in
2010 and has since compiled a
15-5 (11) record fighting in
places such as Dubai, D.R.
Congo, Ghana, Germany and
Russia, besides his native
Kenya.
Also on the show, promoted by
Kalakoda Promotions and labelled
Harare´Geddon, former Zimbabwean
Champion Chamunorwa “Sting”
Gonorenda, 8-12 (5), will face
Tanzania’s Kaminja Ramadhan,
11-7-1 (4), for the vacant WBF
All Africa Cruiserweight title.
A stacked undercard will feature
an explosive encounter between
the aforementioned former WBF
Champ Ilunga Makabu, 20-2 (19),
and Mussa Ajibu, 28-9-5 (24)
from Malawi. This will be
Makabu´s second fight since
losing to England’s Tony Bellew
for the WBC World title last
year.
