Very promising Mpho Seforo
remained undefeated and captured
the vacant World Boxing
Federation (WBF) All Africa
Light Flyweight title on
Saturday, December 16, at the
Kagiso Memorial & Recreation
Centre in Kagiso, South Africa.
Having already won the Gauteng
title last year, Seforo scored
his most significant victory to
date as he won a twelve-round
majority decision over former
WBF World Strawweight Champion,
and fellow countryman, Luyanda
Nkwankwa.
It was a very technical affair
between two highly skilled
boxers, always looking to find
mistakes from the other to take
advantage of. The more
experienced Nkwanka took the
early lead, but Seforo came back
strong and dominated the later
rounds.
Judge David Van Niewenhuizen
couldn't separate the pair,
scoring the fight even at
114-114, but he was overruled by
judges Ben Ncapayi and Phumeza
Zinakile who had it 117-112 and
116-112 for Seforo. Referee in
charge of the action was Simon
Mokadi.
Mpho Seforo improved his
professional ledger to 7-0-1
(2), while Luyanda Nkwankwa
falls to a very misleading,
almost unfathomable, 8-13-2 (5).
The main event of a show billed
as “Clash of the Kasi”, Seforo
vs. Nkwankwa was promoted by
Team Dida Promotions in
association with Vision View
Productions.
