With television coverage across
the African continent via Kwesé
Sports, Kalakoda Promotions put
on yet another quality night of
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Championship boxing on Friday,
August 3, at The Dome in
Swakopmund, Namibia.
Lukas “The Demolisher”
Ndafoluma, coming off an
excellent victory over Craig
Cunningham in England, proved
that he is no flash in the pan
when he won the vacant WBF
Intercontinental Middleweight
title by defeating compatriot
Ebenestus Kaangundue.
After more or less having things
his own way in the first two
rounds, Ndafoluma put an
exclamation point on his
dominance when he floored
Kaangundue in round three with a
left hand, and made him retire
before the start of round four
to claim the technical knockout
victory.
Ndafoluma, who won the IBO All
Africa title last year, improved
his professional ledger to 12-1
(4). Kaangundue, a former
Namibian national
title-challenger stepping in on
short notice to replace WBF All
Africa Champion Jimmy Mabundji,
falls to 6-3 (1).
In another all-Namibian
encounter, heavy favourite
Abraham Ndauendapo lost the WBF
All Africa Super Featherweight
title in something of an upset
when Onesmus Nekundi was awarded
a split decision after ten close
rounds.
Nekundi, who also came in at
short notice when Congo´s
Bilindo Eseko pulled out,
started the fight strong and was
in command in the first half,
while Ndauendapo finished the
fight on top but probably got
started too late to get the
victory.
Judges Clifford Mbelo and Ricky
Tshabalala scored the fight
97-93 and 96-94 in favour of
Nekundi, now 9-5-2 (1), while
judge Patrick Esterhuizen saw it
96-94 for Ndauendapo, who drops
to 17-7 (5).
