On Saturday November 17 at the
Heinz Gerlach Halle in Bad
Münstereifel, Germany,
big-punching Benjamin Blindert
will fight Teemu Tuominen from
Finland for the vacant World
Boxing Federation (WBF) Eurasia
Super Middleweight title.
Turning professional late at
thirty in November of 2016,
Blindert has since put together
a fine 8-0 (7) record and is now
ready to take on his biggest
challenge to date in Tuominen
(35), a pro since 2011 with a
respectable 10-4 (6) ledger.
Besides Finland, Tuominen has
boxed in Mexico, USA, Canada,
Latvia and Germany, so he will
be no stranger to going abroad
for a big opportunity. He is by
far the more experienced of the
two, but Blindert still enters
the fight a healthy favourite.
On the same night, in
Courbevoie, France, Youssouf
Doumbia and Idaas Redjdal will
clash for the vacant WBF All
Africa Middleweight title. Both
are based in France, but Doumbia
is originally from the Ivory
Coast, while Redjdal was born in
Algeria.
Home-town-man Doumbia has fought
too many good opponents to
mention, including fourteen
unbeaten boxers (going 3-9-2
against them), which has had its
effect on his deceiving 11-24-5
(1) record. But he has won two
of his last three, and is
reportedly in the shape of his
life ahead of Redjdal, 8-1-1
(0).
