On Sunday night, January 13, in
Budapest, Hungary, Prince Patel
from London in England captured
the vacant World Boxing
Federation (WBF) World
Bantamweight title defeating
fellow southpaw Ronald Ramos
from San Onofre in Colombia.
Undefeated Patel started the
fight on the front foot, working
from a low stance in an attempt
to wear Ramos down with body
shots. At the same time. the
more experienced Ramos, taking
part in his second world
title-challenge, tried to keep
Patel at bay with his reach.
But after three rounds where
both boxers tried to implement
their game-plans, the
26-year-old Brit found his
measure and landed a well-placed
left hook to the body in round
four, sending Ramos down for the
full count of referee Janos
Baranyi. The time of stoppage
was 2:00.
The new World Boxing Federation
(WBF) World Bantamweight
Champion improved his
professional record to 18-0-1
(13). Ramos, who came up short
in a challenge for the WBO World
Flyweight title in 2010, drops
to 41-18-4 (20).
This being his sixth straight,
and tenth overall fight in
Hungary, Prince Patel´s crowning
moment was the headliner of a
show promoted by Fight Night
Show Promotions, headed by Tibor
Feja.
