It is with
great sadness that I say goodbye
to my colleague, partner,
friend, executive director and
amazing brother, Olaf Schroeder,
who passed away peacefully last
night.
Olaf was a
devoted family man whose dream
it was to build the World Boxing
Federation into a major
sanctioning body.
His
dedication, commitment and
enthusiasm to the WBF was
unrivaled, and he and I would
speak on a daily basis,
sometimes 10 to 15 times a day,
working on what was in the best
interests of our organization.
I got to know
Olaf better than most, and
inside the hard exterior was an
intelligent, knowledgeable,
ethical and humorous man, who
always tried to help each and
every member of the WBF.
He leaves
behind his wife Susi and
daughter Ranee and our thoughts
and prayers are with them at
this difficult time. As I
assured them at the hospital in
Bielefeld this week, they will
always be a part of the WBF
family as we continue Olaf’s
legacy and love for life and
boxing.
We will miss
you Olaf – be at peace!
Howard.
