It was considered a routine
title-defense by most, when
Elina Tissen put the World
Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens
World Featherweight title on the
line against Enerolisa de Leon
on November 19 in Warendorf,
Germany.
Tissen entered the fight at
25-2, while de Leon brought a
modest 6-6-2 record, and at 40
years of age it would not have
been a surprise if her best days
in the ring were behind her.
But the Spain-based Dominican
had her own plans, and pressured
Tissen from the first second
until the German was pulled out
after eight rounds where she had
mostly been on the receiving
end.
The stunning victory makes
Enerolisa de Leon the WBF Boxer
of the Month for November 2022.
