After settling for a technical draw
last December, due to injury,
Tanzanian Selemani Kidunda and Erick
Katompa from D. R. Congo finally got
a chance to set the record straight
on Saturday, July 30, in Songea,
Tanzania.
With the vacant World Boxing
Federation (WBF) Intercontinental
Super Middleweight title at stake,
the pair headlined a show promoted
by Peak Time Promotions at the
Majimaji Stadium.
This time there would be no doubt as
to who was the better man, as
Kidunda out-boxed his foe and won a
clear unanimous decision.
After ten rounds of action, judges
Pembe Ndava and Habibu Mkarafuu both
scored the fight 97-92, while judge
Pendo Njau saw it 99-90, all for the
home man.
With the victory, Kidunda improved
his professional record to 8-0-1
(7). Katompa falls to 13-2-1 (5).
