On December 26 at the Tafawa Balewa
Square on Lagos Island in Lagos,
Nigeria, undefeated local star Taiwo
Agbaje will face Filipino veteran
Richard Taruc Pumicpic for the
vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental Featherweight
title.
30-year-old Agbaje, 14-0 (9), has
been around since turning pro in
2018, fighting in Ghana and the
United Kingdom, besides his native
Nigeria. Earlier this year he won
the West African Boxing Union title,
stopping Ghanaian Emmanuel Quartey
in four rounds.
Nicknamed “The Beast”, Pumicpic (32)
is even more experienced, and
certainly more accomplished so far,
going abroad for fights in Thailand,
Japan, Mexico and the USA.
A pro since 2008, he is a former
Philippines, WBC Youth Silver, WBC
International and WBO Asia Pacific
titlist, and brings a record of
23-12-3 (7).
Arguably the best opponent to date
for Agbaje, the man from Manila is a
very live underdog in the fight, and
if the styles mesh as expected it is
bound to be a very exciting
encounter.
Promoted by Flykite Promotions, the
fight will be broadcast live by
GOtv.
