Taiwo Agbaje showed class to win the
vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental Featherweight title
on Monday, December 26, at Tafawa
Balewa Square on Lagos Island in his
hometown of Lagos, Nigeria.
As expected,
it was a tough encounter against
durable and experienced
co-challenger Richard “The Beast”
Pumicpic from the Philippines, but
undefeated “Esebo” Agbaje was
determined to show that he was the
better man.
It was competitive in every round,
and the visitor had certainly come
to win, but the end came in round
seven when Agbaje landed a huge
body-shot which floored Pumicpic for
the full count of referee Lateef
Muiss. Official time of stoppage:
2:57.
The new WBF Intercontinental
Featherweight champion improved his
unblemished professional record to
15-0 (10). Stopped for the first
time, Pumicpic, a former WBC and WBO
regional titlist, drops to 23-13-3
(7).
Broadcast live by GOtv, the fight
headlined a show promoted by Flykite
Promotions.
