Filipino fire-cracker Ian Sampan celebrates New Years eve as the new World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Super Featherweight champion, after defeating compatriot Jason Tinampay on Saturday, December 31.

At the Davao Del Norte Sports & Tourism Complex in Tagum City, Philippines, Sampan made a statement as he dominated from the start, and floored Tinampay three times to force a stoppage in the sixth round.

The fight served as one of the featured bouts of a nine-fight show billed as “Double Trouble”, promoted by Sanman Promotions.

Taking part in his first professional championship fight, 21-year-old Sampan improved his unblemished record to 8-0 (7).

Tinampay (27), who entered the fight coming off two knockout victories, drops to 13-17-1 (11).
