Filipino fire-cracker Ian Sampan
celebrates New Years eve as the new
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
International Super Featherweight
champion, after defeating compatriot
Jason Tinampay on Saturday, December
31.
At the Davao Del Norte Sports &
Tourism Complex in Tagum City,
Philippines, Sampan made a statement
as he dominated from the start, and
floored Tinampay three times to
force a stoppage in the sixth round.
The fight served as one of the
featured bouts of a nine-fight show
billed as “Double Trouble”, promoted
by Sanman Promotions.
Taking part in his first
professional championship fight,
21-year-old Sampan improved his
unblemished record to 8-0 (7).
Tinampay (27), who entered the fight
coming off two knockout victories,
drops to 13-17-1 (11).
