The World Boxing Federation (WBF)
returns to Switzerland on March 25,
when Arnold Gjergjaj takes on
Germany´s Dominic Vial for the
vacant WBF Intercontinental
Heavyweight title.
The fight will headline a show
promoted by Arnold BoxFit at the
Metro Club, Grand Casino in Basel.
Born in Kosovo, “The Cobra” Gjergjaj
(38) turned professional in 2009,
and is currently 34-3 (25).
In 2014 he won the EBU External
title, defeating 15-0 Adnan
Redzovic. He made one successful
defense, outpointing Denis Bakhtov
the following year, before losing
the title to Umut Camkiran in Turkey
in 2019.
Dominic Vial brings a 9-3 (8) record
to the dance, and is entering the
fight off a first round knockout
victory of Mexican Daniel Cota last
December.
The 30-year-old from
Moenchengladbach is a former German
International and UBF International
titlist, but this will by far be the
most significant fight of his
career.
This will only be Gjergjaj´s second
fight after a break between 2019 and
2022, so it remains to be seen if he
is ready for what the younger German
will bring.
