On Saturday night at the Grand
Casino in Basel, Switzerland a new
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Intercontinental Heavyweight
champion was crowned.
In only his second fight since
returning from a three-year break,
local man Arnold “The Cobra”
Gjergjaj took on German
co-challenger Dominic Vial, and
showed little signs of ring-rust.
Despite being in with a younger and
heavier opponent, Gjergjaj was the
superior fighter and scored a second
round technical knockout. Official
time of stoppage: 2:34.
Originally from Kosovo, Gjergjaj
(38) improved his professional
record to 35-3 (26) and proved that
he has plenty left to offer in the
Heavyweight division.
30-year-old Vial, a former German
International champion, travels back
to Moenchengladbach at 9-4 (8).
