Former world champion Stevie Morgan
is back in the title-picture after
capturing the vacant World Boxing
Federation (WBF) Intercontinental
Lightweight title on Friday
afternoon, January 26, in Bogota,
Colombia.
Morgan completely outclassed and
destroyed former WBA world
title-challenger Paolo Herrera, from
Colombia, scoring a first round
stoppage.
After dropping her opponent, Morgan
followed up and pinned Herrera on
the ropes and let her punches fly,
forcing referee Daniel Segura to
step in and wave it off in the
opener. Time of stoppage: 1:50.
This was the fifth straight first
round victory for Morgan since
losing her UBO world title to
another Colombian, Calista Silgado,
last October.
“Sledgehammer”
Morgan improved her record to 13-1
(12), while Herrera drops to 14-9-2
(6).
The fight was part of a show
promoted by T & K Promotions.
