World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia
Pacific Featherweight champion Jae
Sung Song retained his title in
devastating fashion on Sunday,
February 11, in his native South
Korea.
At the Gowon Gymnasium in Taebaek
City, Sung Song knocked out Filipino
challenger Delmar Pellio with a
brutal body-shot in the very first
round.
Pellio, who had never been stopped
before, remained on the canvas for
several minutes. Official time of
stoppage 1:45.
This was Sung Song´s second defense
of the WBF Asia Pacific title, as he
improves his professional record to
5-0-1 (5). Pellio drops to 9-3 (4).
WBF President Howard Goldberg, who
flew in from Cape Town, South Africa
to be ringside, was impressed with
the 27-year-old southpaw, saying:
“That
was one of the best body-shots I
have ever seen. It was loud, precise
and hard, and I am confident that
Sung Song will go on to achieve even
higher accolades. He is very
promising.”
