In front of a packed Gymnase
Claudius Caillot in Betheny, France,
local hero Ibrahim Traore just came
up short in his bid to win the
vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF)
International Cruiserweight title on
Saturday night, February 24.
Traore came from behind against
undefeated Czech co-challenger
Rostislav Zich, and finished strong,
but it was a bit too late as the
fight was ruled a draw.
It was an exciting fight between
evenly matched boxers, and the
visitor starting fast and confident
only to be out-worked by Traore in
the second half.
Judge Marc Lemiere scored the fight
95-95, while judge Bruno Dubois
scored it 96-94 for Traore and judge
Vincent Dupas saw it 97-93 for Zich.
Traore is now 9-9-1 (2), while Zich
stays unbeaten at 6-0-2 (3) and the
WBF title remains vacant.
The fight was promoted by Cosmo
Boxing Promotions.
