Undefeated Ugandan-born Dutch
Heavyweight Willy Kyakonye, 7-0 (6),
is closing in on his careers first
professional title fight on March
30.
At the Sporthal de Willisstee in
Wilnis, Netherlands, he will take on
Giovanni Auriemma, 2-3-1 (0), born
in Italy but also fighting out of
the Netherlands, for the vacant
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
International title.
Kyakonye (29) turned professional in
2017 with a first-round knockout of
undefeated Gino da Fonseca (3-0),
and instantly made an impression on
the Dutch boxing scene.
He has won every fight conclusively,
but, despite his underwhelming
statistics, Auriemma could easily
turn out to be a very tough
challenge for him.
“El
Tigre” Auriemma (30) lost his paid
debut in 2016, but has since proven
quite capable by defeating the likes
of 4-0 Kristian Prenga, who is today
15-0, and drawing with 3-0 Perry
Reichling in his most recent fight
last October.
He is obviously the underdog going
in, but Auriemma will not be coming
to lay down, and will do all he can
to upset the favourite.
The Kyakonye vs. Auriemma WBF
International Heavyweight title
fight headlines “The Evolution of
Boxing”, and will be preceded by six
well-matched undercard bouts.
