Two new World Boxing Federation
(WBF) world champions were crowned
on Saturday night, April 6, at the
Hotel InterContinental in Vienna,
Austria.
Reigning WBF Womens Intercontinental
champion Michaela Kotaskova won the
vacant WBF world Welterweight title,
stopping Argentinian Erica Juana
Gabriela Alvarez in the tenth and
final round. Official time of
stoppage: 1:14.
It was an impressive result for
Kotaskova, from the Czech Republic
but based in Vienna, as she became
the first boxer to stop Alvarez
inside the distance, something
several big names has failed to do
in the past.
Kataskova improved her professional
record to 6-0-2 (3). Alvarez,
entering the fight as the current
Argentinian and South American
champion, drops to 5-8 (0).
In the evenings co-main event,
Austria-based German Nicole Wesner
lost the WBF world Lightweight title
when she was upset by Serbian Nina
Pavlovic.
After ten round of boxing, judges
Klaus Hagemann, Balcsu Gabris and
Bernd Hupfer scored the fight 98-93,
97-92 and 99-90 respectively, all in
favour of the underdog.
The new world champion took her
misleading record to 9-5-1 (1),
while Wesner, WBF world champion
since 2014 and coming up short in
her eighth defense, falls to 18-2
(8).
The show was promoted by Bounce
Fight Night.
