Jackie Brice Boxing Promotions
presents a World Boxing Federation
(WBF) All Africa championship
twin-bill on April 19 in Cape Town,
South Africa.
Joshua Pretorius, fighting out of
KwaZulu-Natal, will take on Ugandan
Shafic Kiwanuka for the vacant
Heavyweight title, while South
African compatriots Lwando Mngambi
and Lebogang Pilane square off for
the vacant Super Flyweight crown.
Pretorius, 9-8 (5), is a former
South Africa and African Boxing
Union champion, winning both titles
against undefeated Juan Roux in
March of 2022.
His opponent, Kiwanuka, 5-0-1 (4),
will be looking to become a two-time
WBF All Africa champion, having won
the title in 2019 in Uganda, but
never got the opportunity to defend
the belt.
Challenging for his first tile,
Lwando Mngambi, 5-0 (2), is probably
the favourite against Lebogang
Pilane, 6-7 (3), but he is arguably
fighting what is at least on paper
his best opponent to date.
Despite his mediocre record, Pilane
has proven his worth as he barely
lost a challenge for the WBF
International Light Flyweight title
last year, by split decision to
Sanele Mhlungu.
He is coming off victories against
two other prospects, and will
believe he can also defeat Mngambi
to become WBF champion.
