A sure-fire future star of South
African boxing, Asekho Nocele won
the vacant World Boxing Federation
(WBF) International Bantamweight
title on Friday night, September 27,
in Cape Town.
On a show promoted by Jackie Brice
Boxing Promotions, Nocele stopped
game but out-gunned compatriot
Ayanda Gangqa in the tenth round of
an exciting fight.
Gangqa was floored in the first
round, but showed incredible courage
and made it competitive by
continuing to come forward despite
Nocele out-boxing him to win every
round.
Eventually referee Elroy Marshall
had seen enough in the tenth,
calling it off 54 seconds into the
round making Nocele the new champion
by technical knockout.
Nocele, still only twenty years old,
improved his professional record to
6-0 (4). Gangqa falls to a
misleading 3-4-1 (1).
