Nieky Holzken returned to professional boxing after more than seven years out, when he won the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental Super Middleweight title on Saturday night, July 12.

At the Veka Sportcentrum in his home-town of Helmond, Netherlands, “The Natural” Holzken (41) defeated Albanian Edison Demaj by land-slide unanimous decision.

Even with a bit of ring-rust, Holzken had little difficulties out-boxing the younger man by nine years, and the result was never really in doubt.

After ten rounds of boxing, judges Ben Bakic and Mufadel Elghazaoui both scored it 99-91, while judge Jamal Ibrahim had it a shot-out 100-90.

Holzken, who´s single defeat came by decision to current WBO Interim world Light Heavyweight champion Callum Smith in 2018, improves his record to 15-1 (11). Demaj is now 14-5-1 (8).
