May 1 - 2010:
The day began with the official
opening ceremony - televised
nationwide live on Ora News -
conducted by the Albanian
Minister of Sports together with
convention host Ylli Ndroqi, the
WBFed Honory President, and
WBFed President Howard Goldberg
from South Africa.
Goldberg held a captivating
speech, introducing all current
world champions and thus
underline the great strides the
World Boxing Federation has made
in just the past six months.
This was followed by excellent
and well-attended Officials
Seminar by Artur Ellensohn and a
Medical Seminar by Dr. Adam
Balogh.
Part of the afternoon press
conference was the official
weigh-in (and rules meeting) for
tomorrow's world middleweight
title clash between champion
Kreshnik Qato and Argentine
challenger Waldemar Esteban
Ponce. Supervised by WBFed Vice
President Ron Scalf, the two
supporting International
championship bouts also hit the
scales within the respective
division limits, clearing the
way for a the biggest-ever
boxing event in Albanian sports
history.
The highlight of the convention
dinner was the 2009 awards
ceremony with the winners being
