Keenan Carbajal won his tenth
straight bout and the vacant
World Boxing Federation (WBF)
Mexican Featherweight title on
Saturday, December 16, when he
stopped previously undefeated
local man Miguel Ponce in the
fifth round at the Gimnasio
Municipal in Agua Prieta,
Sonora, Mexico.
“Bedo”
Carbajal needed three rounds to
establish control with his
reach-advantage against the
rugged and aggressive Ponce, but
with knock-downs from body-shots
in the third and fourth rounds
he took over the fight
completely.
When Carbajal, a twenty-six year
old fighting out of Phoenix,
Arizona, floored Ponce for the
third time in round five,
referee Wilberto Alvarado had
seen enough and correctly waved
the fight off. Time of stoppage
was 2:18.
A pro since 2013, Carbajal
improved his record to 14-2-1
(8), while “El Zurdo” Ponce
loses for the first time and
falls to 11-1-2 (7) since
entering the paid ranks in 2015.
The fight was promoted by El
Charco Promotion.
