World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Cruiserweight Champion Olanrewaju Durodola, 29-6 (27), is undoubtedly one of the hardest punchers in the world in his weight-class.

The 38-year-old USA-based Nigerian has competed at world-class level the last five years, and taken on all comers mostly in his opponents back-yards.

In the fourth installment of our feature series titled “The Champ”, we offer some miscellaneous insight and information on...The Champ!

- Durodola was born on October 16, 1980 in a city called Ilesha, in Nigeria´s Osun state.

- Very religious, he proudly fights with the ring-moniker “Gods Power”.

- As an amateur, Durodola represented his country in many international tournaments, including the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China where he fought at Heavyweight and lost on points to Cuban Osmay Acosta, who eventually won a bronze medal, in the first round of the competition.

- After ending his amateur career, Durodola worked in Nigeria as a police-officer. It was with the help of the Nigerian police force that he was able to turn professional.

- In 2011 he was brought to the USA by manager Kenny Ogaga, who joined forces with well-known American Roland Jankelson as co-manager.

- He was originally set to make his pro debut in Kansas City in February of 2011, but when his opponent pulled out at the very last minute it didn't happen until June, where he stopped fellow first-timer John Blanchard in the opening round.

- Of his first twenty-one pro bouts, between 2011 and 2014, nineteen were in the USA and two in Ghana. Since then he has not boxed in the USA at all, but twice in Nigeria, four in Ghana, twice in Argentina, three in Russia and once in Latvia, Brazil and Poland.

- After winning the African Boxing Union (ABU) Cruiserweight title in 2012, and the WBC Continental Americas Cruiserweight title in 2013, Durodla suffered his first defeat to Thabiso Mchunu (14-1), on points, in January of 2014.

- The loss to Mchunu was for the NABF title only, and Durodola overall made five successful defenses of his WBC title.

- Following his victory over Dmitry Kudriashov (18-0) in Russia in 2015, Durodola was honored by Nigerian President Mohammadu Bahari, and also promoted by the Nigerian Police Force.
