- Durodola was born on October
16, 1980 in a city called
Ilesha, in Nigeria´s Osun state.
- Very religious, he proudly
fights with the ring-moniker
“Gods Power”.
- As an amateur, Durodola
represented his country in many
international tournaments,
including the 2008 Olympics in
Beijing, China where he fought
at Heavyweight and lost on
points to Cuban Osmay Acosta,
who eventually won a bronze
medal, in the first round of the
competition.
- After ending his amateur
career, Durodola worked in
Nigeria as a police-officer. It
was with the help of the
Nigerian police force that he
was able to turn professional.
- In 2011 he was brought to the
USA by manager Kenny Ogaga, who
joined forces with well-known
American Roland Jankelson as
co-manager.
- He was originally set to make
his pro debut in Kansas City in
February of 2011, but when his
opponent pulled out at the very
last minute it didn't happen
until June, where he stopped
fellow first-timer John
Blanchard in the opening round.
- Of his first twenty-one pro
bouts, between 2011 and 2014,
nineteen were in the USA and two
in Ghana. Since then he has not
boxed in the USA at all, but
twice in Nigeria, four in Ghana,
twice in Argentina, three in
Russia and once in Latvia,
Brazil and Poland.
- After winning the African
Boxing Union (ABU) Cruiserweight
title in 2012, and the WBC
Continental Americas
Cruiserweight title in 2013,
Durodla suffered his first
defeat to Thabiso Mchunu (14-1),
on points, in January of 2014.
- The loss to Mchunu was for the
NABF title only, and Durodola
overall made five successful
defenses of his WBC title.
- Following his victory over
Dmitry Kudriashov (18-0) in
Russia in 2015, Durodola was
honored by Nigerian President
Mohammadu Bahari, and also
promoted by the Nigerian Police
Force.
