“Elite
Boxing Super Star 2” on Friday
February 15 at the Galveston in
Gent, Belgium, promoted by
Nicolas Vinet and his Elite
Promotion, is set to be
headlined by two World Boxing
Federation (WBF) championship
fights.
Coming off a split decision
non-title fight loss to reigning
WBF World Champion Oshin Derieuw
last October, Elfi Phillips,
9-5-3 (4), takes on underrated
Montenegrin Aleksandra Vujovic,
4-8-2 (2), for the vacant WBF
Womens Intercontinental Light
Welterweight title.
Philips won the Belgian national
title in 2015, and has since
challenged for the European
crown and a WBC regional strap,
losing hard-fought decisions in
her opponents home-towns. Now
she is ready to fight for a
significant title with the
backing of her own fans.
In the evenings co-feature, WBF
International Welterweight
Champion Meriton Karaxha, 22-5-2
(8), makes his first defense of
the title he won this past
November, when he faces
tough-as-nails Rwanda-born Jean
Pierre Habimana.
Based in Belgium since 2013,
“The African Warrior” Habimana
(35) has a modest 9-15-3 (4)
record, but fighting almost
exclusively against more than
competent opposition he is known
as a crowd-pleaser who always
puts in his best effort to win.
