How time flies and amazingly we
are once again at the end of a
year.
The World Boxing Federation is
making wonderful progress and in
the past week staged no fewer
than three world title fights.
Congratulations to Tamas Kovacs
who became the first Slovakian
to win a world title when he
captured the World Boxing
Federation's light heavy crown
against a game Samson Onyango.
Noni Tenge, arguably the best
woman welterweight in the world
stopped tough as teak Gift
Ankrah from Nigeria to win our
woman's welterweight title, and
Natascha Ragosina became our
woman's heavyweight champ with a
win over Pamela London in
Russia.
We have set our aims for next
year - that to be transparent,
professional and a provider of
opportunities. We want to 'the
organisation of choice!'
I will elaborate further in
January about our upcoming
plans, but can at this point
announce that we have world
title fights in the first six
months scheduled for South
Africa, Uganda, Ghana, Namibia,
Cameroon, Slovakia, Italy,
Germany and Thailand to mention
but a few. Exciting times
indeed.
I would like to take this
opportunity to wish everyone
well over the Festive season and
hope that 2010 realises all your
dreams. Let us all,
irrespective of the organisation
with which we associate
ourselves, give respect to this
greatest sport of all - boxing!
