How time flies!!! I remember 6
months ago discussing with the
WBF executive that the
convention was around the corner
only to have the reply that we
have six months to go - that
seemed like yesterday.
In less than two weeks the WBF
family will get together in
Medebach,
Germany
for the latest convention and of
course our crazy characters from
around the world will all be in
attendance.
I am delighted that our American
world super middleweight
champion Travis Hanshaw will be
on the bill
at our WBF Boxing Event
in a warm-up fight, arriving
together with his family from
Ashland Kentucky.
Equally thrilled that the up and
coming star Donald Brown will
also get to show off his
exquisite skills fighting for
the intercontinental title, and
our good friend Shawn Miller
will also be on the bill.
We
actually
have two shows on the same
night, and of course we will
make a plan to ensure we oversee
both.
A big thanks to Christian Rosen
and
Susi Lau for their hard work in
putting the convention together
as well as to my right hand man
Eddie Marshall, who has been
dealing superbly with all the
administration of our African
delegates.
It has been a rough year for me
on a personal note losing my
brother Alan as well as losing
my “German brother” Olaf. It has
reminded of how short life is
and that we need to live
everyday with zest, joy and
without regret.
Anger and bitterness are
negatives we do not need in our
lives, only positivity.
The convention is a meeting of
our WBF family and a time to
enjoy and embrace the lives of
the people in our family. We
need to laugh, reminisce and
simply talk the language of
boxing.
To create new friendships and to
consolidate existing ones. These
memories last a lifetime!
Yes of course - and to do a bit
of boxing business in-between.
I look forward to seeing all of
you, to sitting down and having
a coffee and chat with everyone
as we
continue the dream of building
the WBF into a bigger and better
organization.
We will miss Olaf at the
convention but I know he will be
with us in spirit all the way.
See you in Medebach.
Until next time,
keep punching.
