What an interesting last few
weeks. While we know that boxing
has an abundance of characters,
good and bad, normal and crazy,
I have been fortunate of late to
meet and have communication with
some of the finest gentlemen I
have ever met.
Their transparency and goodwill
has been inspiring and I thank
them and appreciate their
forthright and positive approach
to our discussions.
Of course I have encountered as
well some really arrogant
scoundrels whose words are both
meaningless and devious. But
that's the boxing world I guess.
The trick is simply to work and
liaise with those with integrity
and sincerity - and not those
who words are meaningless and
deceitful.
People who read this column must
surely be tired of my tirade
against the Coronavirus, and
still it persists in a world
that is now fighting back harder
than ever before.
Countries around the world, some
faster than others, and sadly
some none at all, have begun to
administer vaccines in the
attempt to return our world to
some semblance of normality.
This is a battle that we cannot,
and will not succumb too.
Having had our titles recently
contested in Mexico and
Macedonia over the past two
weeks, we look forward to some
really classy match-ups in the
next few weeks in Malta,
Germany, Nigeria, South Africa,
USA, Botswana and Kenya.
Whoever the WBF deals with, we
will continue to set the highest
standards in ethics, morals,
principles and morality. We
strive for professionalism and
complete transparency - and most
important our word is, and
always has been our bond.
Until next time,
keep punching.
