As we begin a new year and
continue to battle against
the Virus, one thing is for
sure. We will fight, we will
have casualties but we will
eventually win.
The world is starting to
return to a new normal, and
as we say that, suddenly
there is a massive increase
in the number of cases
particularly in Europe and
the USA.
Boxing has returned, even
with a January ban in the UK
and other European
countries, but returned it
has and we look forward to
staging many World Boxing
Federation (WBF) titles
around the world in 2022.
The WBF will continue to
follow strict Covid
protocols and we will do
everything in our power to
ensure the safety of not
only the boxers, but of all
involved in our title
fights.
We look forward to kicking
off the year with a massive,
albeit three times postponed
(thanks to Covid) title
fight with Ema Kozin and
Clarissa Shields to be held
in Wales in the first week
of February.
It promises not only to be a
great fight, but also to be
an interesting time for the
WBF having a fight in the UK
for the first time in
several years, and a fight
of such magnitude that it
will be shown all over the
world.
I would like to congratulate
Eddie Marshall who has been
appointed to serve on the
WBF’s senior executive
committee. Eddie is a highly
experienced official and
administrator and brings
vast knowledge to the team.
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank each
and every member of the WBF
team, and wish them and
their families a healthy,
successful and happy 2022.
Please stay safe and
careful, and I look forward
to seeing all of you at a
possible WBF convention in
Europe towards the later
stages of the year (Covid
dependent).
